Email Marketing in Cumbria
Email marketing means sending useful, well-timed emails to people who have asked to hear from you. Done well, it keeps customers coming back, for very little cost each time you send.
This page explains why your own email list is worth building and how I set everything up, from the platform to the emails themselves. I am Tim Marston, and I do all of the work myself, so you deal with one person from start to finish.

Why build your own list
Why Your Own Email List Is Worth Building
Social media reach and search rankings can change overnight. An email list is different, because it belongs to you.
-
It is yours
No platform or algorithm can take your list away from you. Your subscribers stay yours, even if a social network changes its rules or your rankings move.
-
Sell again and again
Once someone has joined, you can reach them whenever it makes sense, at very little cost each time you send.
-
Works for all sorts
Products, services, online shops, bookings, events, memberships, appointments and plenty more. If you have customers, a list can help.
-
Brings people back
Many people do not buy on their first visit, and plenty who have bought once would happily buy again. A friendly email at the right moment reminds them you are there.
How it works
How I Set Up Your Email Marketing
Five steps, all done by me, from the first setting to your emails arriving in your customers’ inboxes.
Platform
I can work within the email system already built into your website or shop, or build you one from scratch and set up the email platform ready to use.
Deliverability
Setting things up behind the scenes so your emails land in the inbox rather than the spam folder, and arrive from a name people trust.
Email capture
Sign-up forms on your website, checkout opt-ins and links to your other systems, including connecting APIs, so new contacts flow in by themselves.
Branded template
A clean, good-looking template in your colours and style that represents your brand well on phones and computers.
Sending
Automated and one-off emails through the year, timed around sales, the seasons, returning shoppers, birthdays and the moments that matter to your customers.
From sign-up to inbox
Every subscriber is someone who has asked to hear from you. Each email reaches them directly, without paying for every view or competing with a feed.

Emails through the year
Automated Emails and One-Off Sends
Most good email programmes mix the two: emails that run quietly in the background, and emails sent for a particular moment.

These go out by themselves when someone does something, so they keep working while you get on with running your business.

- Birthday emails with a small treat or offer.
- Reminders for left baskets, rebookings and repeat orders.
- Come-back emails for customers you have not seen for a while.
Sent when it counts
One-off emails
Planned around your calendar, so your customers hear from you when they are most likely to buy or book.
- Sales and offers, from January sales to Black Friday.
- Seasonal emails for busy and quiet times of year.
- News and launches for new products, services or dates.
- Events and newsletters that keep you front of mind.

FAQs
Email Marketing Questions
How often should I email my list?
Often enough that people remember you, but not so often they feel pestered. For many businesses that means a regular newsletter or offer, plus automated emails that go out when someone signs up, buys or has a birthday. I help you find a rhythm that suits your customers and your season.
Will my emails end up in spam?
Nobody can promise every email reaches every inbox, but a careful set-up makes a big difference. I set up your sending properly, keep your list clean and help you send emails people actually want, all of which help your messages land where they should.
Is email marketing GDPR-friendly?
It can be, as long as people have clearly agreed to hear from you and can unsubscribe easily. I set up sign-up forms with clear consent and make sure every marketing email has an unsubscribe link. For legal questions specific to your business, the ICO website (opens in a new tab) is the place to check.
Can I bring my existing contacts with me?
Usually, yes, as long as those people agreed to receive marketing from you. I can tidy the list, remove duplicates and import it into your platform, so you are not starting from scratch.
Do I need a big list before I start?
No. A small list of people who already know your business is often worth more than a large list of strangers. Start with the customers you have, and let the sign-up forms on your website grow it from there.
Will you write the emails for me?
Yes, if you would like me to. I can write, design and send your emails, or set everything up so you can send your own, with me on hand whenever you need help.
Do I have to sign a long contract?
No. If I look after your email marketing every month, it is rolling monthly, with no long tie-in or contracts. Get in touch and we can talk through what would suit you.
Thinking About Email Marketing?
Tell me a little about your business and how you sell now, and I will give you honest, practical advice on how email could help. There is no hard sell, and ongoing work is rolling monthly, with no long tie-in or contracts.
