Accessibility Statement

Last updated: 29 October 2026.

I want everyone who uses southlakesseo.co.uk to be able to find information, get in touch and move around the site without barriers. This page explains the standard I aim for, what I have done, what still limits full access, and how to tell me if something gets in your way.

My commitment

I aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. That covers keyboard use, clear structure, readable colour contrast, form labels, focus, touch targets, zoom, and reduced motion. I treat accessibility as ongoing work, not a one-off pass.

How I tested this site

I reviewed the public pages on 29 October 2026, including the home page, services, locations, FAQs, contact, legal pages, the free consultation landing page, the thank-you page and a 404 response. Checks included:

  • Automated scans with axe-core and Lighthouse accessibility
  • Manual review of headings, landmarks, skip link, link text and image alternatives
  • Keyboard focus order and visible focus styles
  • Colour contrast for text and controls on the dark theme
  • Forms (Fluent Forms on Contact and the free consultation page), including labels and error messaging
  • Layout at about 320px width and at 200% zoom
  • Respect for prefers-reduced-motion on animated elements I control

What works well

  • Pages use British English language markup (lang="en-GB")
  • A “Skip to content” link is available at the start of each page
  • Main content sits in a main landmark; navigation and footer are labelled
  • Each page has one clear H1, with heading levels in a sensible order
  • Brand greens and ambers on black meet WCAG AA contrast for normal text; body copy uses light greys that pass AA
  • Focus outlines use a high-contrast amber so keyboard users can see where they are
  • Contact and consultation forms have visible labels; reCAPTCHA is disclosed with links to Google’s privacy and terms
  • Decorative icons are hidden from assistive technology; meaningful images carry text alternatives
  • The cookie choice panel can be closed with Escape, returns focus when reopened from “Cookie settings”, and does not trap the page behind an overlay
  • Many animations pause or simplify when the browser asks for reduced motion

Known limitations

Some parts of the site depend on third-party tools. I cannot fully control their markup or behaviour:

  • Google Maps embeds on the contact page may present controls and iframes that do not fully meet WCAG 2.2 AA. A text address, phone number and email are always available on the same page.
  • Google reCAPTCHA on enquiry forms is provided by Google. Its challenge interface can be difficult for some people. If the form blocks you, call or email me and I will take your enquiry another way.
  • Fluent Forms powers the contact and consultation forms. I style and label them carefully, but future plugin updates could change markup. I re-check after updates.
  • Embedded review photos from Google may ship without useful alternative text from the source. Author names and review text remain available beside each card.
  • PDF or downloadable files are not a core part of this site today. If I add any, I will aim for accessible formats or a text alternative.

I am honest about these limits. Where I can fix something in the theme or content, I do. Where a vendor blocks a full fix, I offer another way to reach me.

Compatibility

The site is built to work with current evergreen browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge) and with common assistive technology such as screen readers and keyboard-only navigation. I design for mobile and desktop viewports.

Technical details for assistive tools and crawlers

Structured data on this site includes accessibility properties (access mode, features, hazards and a short summary) so search engines and AI crawlers can see that the site is built with accessibility in mind. This statement is linked from the site footer and is included in the XML sitemap.

How to report a problem

If you find a barrier, please tell me. I aim to reply within two working days, and to propose a fix or a workable alternative within ten working days where that is in my control.

Please include the page URL, what you were trying to do, and the browser or assistive technology you were using if you know it. That helps me reproduce the issue quickly.

Enforcement

If you are not satisfied with my response, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS), or the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) for guidance on your rights under the Equality Act 2010.
